Apples and pears are the fruits most often eaten in our house. It’s mostly because my husband, David, has followed the macrobiotic diet for more than 40 years. He avoids tropical fruits. In fact, in 22 years of marriage, I’ve seen him eat pineapple only once. My Fall Fruit and Fennel Salad is one of his favorites. He gets to indulge in his favorite seasonal fruits along with fennel, with its mild licorice flavor.
